The New Image of Nigeria Voters’ Card and Features

A voting card is a registration card, in which a voter obtains at the registration centre where he/she was registered as a vote. There are processes and requirement needed from Nigerian citizen before he/she can obtain a voters card. The first process is the qualifications for registration; to qualify for registration you must be a Nigerian citizen, you must be 18 years and above.  Our interest in this article is to let you know how the new image of Nigeria voters’ card looks like, what the new voters’ card contains and it can be used for.

The 2019 general election has been scheduled by the Independent National electoral commission (INEC) to be held on 16th February for the presidential and National Assembly election, while the Governorship and State Assembly/Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council elections have been scheduled to held on Saturday, 2nd March 2019.

Features of the New Image of Nigeria Voters’ Card

The new image of Nigeria voters card contains the following

  • The new Nigeria voters’ card contains the voters’ name
  • The new Nigeria voters’ card contains the name of the state the voter is registered in
  • The new Nigerian voters’ card contains the name of the LGA
  • The new Nigeria voters’ card contains the registration Area/Centre and code
  • The new Nigeria voters’ card contains the voter’s Identification number

The Uses of the Nigeria Voters card

  • A voter will be using the voters’ card on the day of voting and no other document will be accepted for identification in the place of the registration card. Without a voters card, a voter cannot cast his vote during an election and
  • The Voters card can be used for official and transactional purposes. For instance, individuals can be demanded to provide either the national ID card or Voters card for banking activities.
