His stage name phyno, which is derived from the word “phenomenal”, was the nickname given to him by one of his high school friend named Emeka. Phyno developed an interest for music production during his secondary school days when he learned how to play piano and the drum. He also learned to create his own rendition of every recording he heard.
He started rapping in 2010 and relocated to Lagos to continue his music career. In 2012, phyno started recording his debut studio album, No Guts No Glory. The album features guest appearances from stormex, omawumi, Olamide, Efa, p-square, Timaya, Flavour, Mr. Raw, M.I, Ice Prince, and Run town.
He won the best collabo at both the 2012 Headies Awards and 2013 Nigeria entertainment Awards with his song featuring Olamide “Ghost Mode”. Phyno has won about four awards and has been nominated more than 15 times on several award occasions which includes city people entertainment Award, channel o music video Award, Nigeria Entertainment Awards, Nigeria music video awards etc.
Phyno AkA Ezge signed an endorsement deal with Artel, Nairabet, and currently signed an endorsement with Life Beer in 2018. The rapper acquired a multi-million naira house at shelve view estate, located at chevron drive, lekki.
