Nigeria to receive 2billion dollars to boost power sector by 2018

power sectorNigeria will receive Two billion US dollars from the Development Partners towards efficiency of the power sector by 2018.

The Development Partners Group on Power led by the UNIDO Regional Director, Dr. Patrick Kormawa, announced this in Abuja at the opening of the 6th Power Summit in Abuja.

Dr. Kormagwa commended the Federal Government for deregulating the power sector, which he said would promote access to electricity by all Nigeria.

On the occasion, the Minister of Power, Professor Chinedu Mebo said President Goodluck Jonathan had invested heavily to make electricity affordable in all parts of the Federation particularly the rural populace.

In a message, the Chairman Senate Committee on Power, Sneator Philip Aduda said the National Assembly would soon open discussion on how to end shortage of supply to the power plants in the country.
