Chevron Nigeria Limited, in collaboration with its Joint Venture partner, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), is offering a number of University Scholarship Awards to highly qualified Nigerian students who are currently running their first degree.
2. Federal Government Scholarship Award for Nigerian Undergraduates
The Federal Government of Nigeria through the Federal Ministry of Education through the Federal Scholarship Board is offering the Bilateral Educational Agreement (BEA) Oversea Scholarships to Nigerian undergraduate, masters and doctoral students.
The BEA Awards are scholarship awards made to eligible Nigerian youths after due process by development partners who have entered into Bilateral Educational agreement with Nigeria. Nigeria also offers inverse awards to citizens of the following Bilateral Education Agreement countries: China, Romania, and Cuba.
- All applicants for undergraduate degree courses must possess a minimum qualification of Five (5) Distinctions (As & Bs) in the Senior Secondary School Certificate, WAEC or NECO (May/June) only in the subjects relevant to their field of study including English language and Mathematics.
- Certificates should not be more than Two (2) years old Age limit is 22 years (minimum age of 18years and maximum 22 years old at the time of taking up the award).
3. MUSTE Undergraduate Scholarships for Nigerian Undergraduates
The Mankind United to Support Total Education is a Scholarship arm of Youth Empowerment and ICT Foundation; it was registered with the corporate affairs commission in Abuja Nigeria on the 17th of November 2003. It is founded and funded by Mr. Jim Ovia in the year 1998, to provide financial aid to outstanding Nigeria youths.
The awardees are given funding for undergraduate study for the duration of the undergraduate program. The award includes tuition and maintenance allowance. The scheme offers an average of 100 opportunities every year. The Financial records show that as at October 2010, Mr. Ovia has invested N98, 220,000 in the program on one thousand, four hundred and thirty-nine beneficiaries.
In establishing MUSTE, Mr. Ovia hoped to create a network of future leaders within Nigeria who can compete globally with their peers, bring new ideas, creativity and are committed to improving the lives and circumstances of people in their respective communities. Overtime it is expected that MUSTE beneficiaries will become leaders in helping to address challenges related to health, technology, and finance, all areas in which the foundation is deeply engaged.
4. Guinness Nigeria Undergraduate Scholarship Scheme
The Guinness Nigeria Undergraduate Scholarship supports Guinness Nigeria’s commitment to implementing transformative schemes that foster youth development in its communities.
The scholarship will provide full tuition for students (from Guinness Nigeria’s host communities) who are currently studying in Nigerian Universities and Polytechnics.
5. SNEPC Scholarship for Nigerian Undergraduates
The Shell Nigeria Exploration Production Company (SNEPC) on behalf of itself and its co-ventures is launching the SNEPC National Merit University Scholarship Scheme.
6. NAOC (Nigeria Agip Oil Company) Scholarship for Nigerian Undergraduates
Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) operates in the land and swamp areas of the Niger Delta, under a joint venture agreement with NNPC (60%), NAOC (20%), and Conoco Phillips (20%), with concessions lying within Bayelsa, Delta, Imo and Rivers States.
The concession covers a total area of 5,313sq.km comprising four blocks – OML 60, 61, 62 & 63. NAOC is also the operator of two onshore exploration leases, namely OPL 282 (90% interest) in the Swamp and OPL 135 (48% interest) in the Land area. NAOC also holds 5% participating interest in SPDC JV with NNPC (55%), The Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) (30%), and Total E&P Nigeria (TEPNG) (10%), with SPDC as operator of the joint venture.
7. Agbami Medical & Engineering Scholarship for Nigerian Undergraduates
Star Deep Water Petroleum Limited, a Chevron company and operator of the Agbami Field, in its continuous support for capacity building in the Health and Engineering sectors as a strategic feed into the national manpower pool, is offering a number of University Scholarships to qualified Nigerian students from ALL states of the Federation.
The scholarship program, funded by Star Deep and its Agbami partners, is a major component of the Agbami partners’ Social Investment in the strategic development of Health and Education in Nigeria and the Niger Delta in particular.
8. Total E & P Scholarship for Nigerian Undergraduates
In its determination to promote educational development in Nigeria, Total (E&P) Nigeria Limited awards scholarships to exceptional Nigerian students in secondary and Tertiary institutions as well as those in postgraduate studies.
TOTAL (E&P) is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for its 2010/2011 National Merit Scholarship Awards for undergraduate students currently in their 1st and 2nd year of studies in recognized Nigeria Universities.
This is a significant major contribution towards improving the quality of human capital that Nigeria needs for development. It is an empowerment opportunity Nigerian students can benefit from, especially in the host communities where TOTAL (E&P) operate.
9. Exxon/Mobil Scholarship for Nigerian Undergraduates
Mobil Producing Nigeria (MPN), operator of its joint venture (JV) with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), awards 500 undergraduate scholarships annually to students in Nigerian universities. The scholarship awards are for one academic year initially, and are renewable to cover the duration of approved study, based on the recipients’ academic performance and related reports from the institutions.
The NNPC/MPN JV scholarship is aimed at assisting the Federal Government of Nigeria in the training and development of medium and high level manpower for the country, while also enhancing a possible feeder pool of employable candidates into the company. Some of the candidates have been successful in the company’s recruitment exercise after graduation; however, there is no obligation by ExxonMobil to offer employment to the awardees upon their completion of studies.
Under the NNPC/MPN JV undergraduate scholarship program, 60% of the awards go for core disciplines of Engineering and Geosciences, while 40% are for other approved business and social sciences related studies. A total of nine approved disciplines are currently covered in the awards which are based strictly on merits as determined from the candidates’ academic records, conduct and performance in the selection tests. In order to enhance the scholarship awards process and leverage on existing information and communication technologies (ICT), selection of candidates is conducted through an electronic computer-based testing. The e- testing is organized in several centers across the country.
10. NNPC/Addax Scholarship for Nigerian Undergraduates
The company, Addax Petroleum Development (Nig) Limited, offers the National Merit Tertiary Institutions Scholarship Awards Scheme for undergraduate students in Nigeria.
11. SPDC (Shell) Scholarship for Nigerian Undergraduates
The University Scholarship Scheme, a program run by SPDC on behalf of the NNPC/Shell/Elf/Agip Joint Venture, makes a quiet but very profound commentary on the company’s interest in the promotion of capacity building in the country.
Every year, more than 4,000 Nigerian undergraduates write aptitude tests to join the ever growing list of students which Shell Nigeria supports in Nigerian Universities. The applicants are shortlisted on the basis of the national SSCE and JAMB examination results. This is followed by an aptitude test at the Port Harcourt, Warri, Enugu, Lagos and Abuja centers.
There are two categories of the Scholarship Scheme, the National Merit Award (NM), open to Nigerian undergraduates and Areas of Operation Merit Award (AOM), for students from communities in which Shell Nigeria operates. Only first year students are eligible for the awards in both categories.
An average of 16,000 applicants respond to advertisements by Shell Nigeria every year, inviting qualified candidates to apply for the scholarships which are tenable only in Nigerian Universities.
12. PTDF Scholarship for Nigerian Undergraduates
The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) is a parastatal of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources established by Decree 25 of 1973 with a mandate to train Nigerians towards active participation in the Oil and Gas Industry. PTDF has over the years awarded postgraduate scholarships in Oil and Gas courses.
13. ABC Transport Scholarship for Nigerian Undergraduates
ABC Transport Plc is offering a number of University Scholarship Awards to suitably qualified Nigerian students. Applications for the scholarship award are invited from full-time FIRST YEAR (100 LEVEL) degree students of the under-listed courses, in Nigerian universities:

Every year, the Nigerian Women Association of Georgia (NWAG) awards scholarships to female Nigerian undergraduate students in Nigerian universities. These NWAG scholarships are offered one per state of origin as well as one for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), in the amount of fifty thousand Naira per applicant.
