RATTAWUEbonyi State News – The Ebonyi State Government has approved the payment of weigh-in allowance, to members of Radio, Television and Theatre Arts Workers Union (RATTAWU) in the State owned media houses.

Addressing newsmen in Abakaliki, the Supervising Commissioner for Information, Dr. Ifeanyi Ike, said the government also directed the payment of arrears of thirty-five percent weigh-in allowance stopped by the State Government in January, 2012 to the affected workers.

On the three day warning strike embarked upon by organized labour in the state to protest the nonpayment of September 2011 salary and full implementation of minimum wage, Dr. Ike said the State had engaged labour in a dialogue to resolve the impasse.

Earlier at a news briefing, the State Chairman, Joint Public Service Negotiating Council of Trade Union Congress,
Comrade Ikechukwu Nwafor, said they embarked on the warning strike because of the failure of government to accede to their demand.
Comrade Nwafor urged the State government to take steps to address the issues to prevent an indefinite strike.
