The Delta House of Assembly has passed the 2014 appropriation bill of four hundred and fifty one billion naira into law.
The passage of the budget followed the adoption of the report presented by Mr Daniel Mayuku, Chairman of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation.
Mayuku said that out of the amount, N289 billion was for capital expenditure, while N162 billion was for recurrent expenditure.
The Chairman of the Committee said the budget showed an increase of N59 billion over that of 2013.
He said that the 2014 budget was tailored towards the completion of all ongoing projects in the State.
Mayuku said it was the intention of the current administration to complete all projects it started and inherited.
The Committee Chairman urged the assembly to ensure that all tiers of government complied strictly with the budget.
The motion for the adoption of the budget was moved by the Majority Leader, Mr Monday Igbuya and seconded by Mr Martin Okonta, representing Ika South constituency.
The report was, however, unanimously adopted by the members.
The Speaker, Mr Victor Ochei, thanked the Committee and members for their “immense contribution” to the passage of the bill.
Ochei directed the Clerk of the House, Mrs Lyna Ochulor, to send a clean copy of the budget to Gov. Emmanuel Uduaghan for assent.
