LASU Protest Result to indefinite Shuting down of institution, Semester Exam Postponed

The high authority in Lagos State University, LASU recently postponed the 2012/2013 rain semester examination due to the protest of the students.

It also came to how notice that the institution has shut-down every activities until further notice.

At the event of the student protest, the car of the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. John Obafunwa was stoned and he was reportedly rushed out of the faculty of sciences.

When investigating on the issue behind the protest, the students who took part in the protest, reported that they were not allowed to register for the rain semester examination.

However, the decision to shut down the university was contained in an official bulletin posted on the school premises.

The bulletin read, “In the view of the violent protest by some affected students of LASU over the closure of the university portal for registration of courses for rain semester 2012/2013 examination, the university management has decided to shut down the university indefinitely.

“Also, examinations have been put off till further notice. With this decision, students of the university are expected to vacate the university premises until further notice.”
