1. Get An Affidavit

To get an affidavit simply means going to any High court around your vicinity to apply for a change of name. This affidavit contains vital information on your intention and willingness to change your name. Your old name (the name you are changing from) and the new name you want to change to will be contained in this affidavit.

2. Newspaper declaration

This simply means to publicly declare that you have changed your name. To do this, you will need to publish your change of name on at least one NATIONALLY RECOGNISED newspaper. Ensure you keep a copy of this newspaper publication for future references.

3. Print Your Name In Nigeria Official Gazette

To do this, you will have to send an application to the documentation department of the Department of Publication, Civil Registry. This application should contain your request for the advertisement for a change of name. Ensure you have the following documents with you:

  3. two passport photographs.
