Abuja High Court has discharge and acquitted former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.
Also the court discharge and acquitted two other key officials of Abuja Geographic information system.
The former Minister was arraigned in 2008 over alleged abuse of office and corruption and re-arraigned in April, 2011 by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC for allegedly re-allocating two plots of land previously allocated to PHCN and NIPOST to his family and associates.
In its ruling, the court, presided over by Justice Sadiq Umar, held that the evidence provided by the prosecution were flawed and full of contradictions.
Mallam El-Rufai had, in-no-case submission filed by defense Counsel Kanu Agabi, SAN and Akin Olujimi, SAN, argued that as the Minister of the FCT, he was empowered by the constitution to grant and revoke land allocations.
But Counsel to the EFCC, Adebayo Adelodun, SAN said he will appeal the ruling in a higher court if briefed by his client.
